Bloemfontein Airport

Bloemfontein airport is situated just outside the city centre. This airport is mostly used for business. If you are in the area, make sure to visit the diamond mines. The man-made hole at Jagersfontein is 760 m deep and don’t forget to visit the wine cellars. You can also take a historic ride on a steam train from Bethlehem or Bloemfontein.

Visit the war memorials and concentration camp cemeteries to remember those who died in the Boer war. After this you have to make sure you relax at one of the 3 major water sports venues including the Vaal River, Gariep Dam (biggest dam in the country) and Sterkfontein Dam. Fishing, camping and water sports can be arranged.

The Free State province is best known for it’s warm hospitality, “Boerekos” (traditional Afrikaner food), farming of more than 70% of South Africa’s grain production and the world’s most productive diamond and gold mines.
