Cape Town International
Cape Town has the second largest airport and most of their passengers are tourists. The airport is located around 23 km from Cape Town and there is a lot to see in the Western Cape area. The biggest attraction must be Table Mountain. Take the cable car to reach the 1 086 m summit, or maybe you feel brave enough to climb it yourself? After that you can also visit Robben Island, a previous prison, home to Nelson Mandela and many others.
On your return you can pop into the V&A Waterfront for some shopping, eating, entertainment and relaxation next to the working harbour. You have to see the most southern point of South Africa (Cape Agulhus) where the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet.
Relax on one of the great beaches which include Clifton, Kommetjie, Hout Bay, Kalk Bay and Fishhoek. After this you can enjoy a great seafood meal at Fishhoek, the place to go to have local fish. Kirsterbosch was the first botanic garden in the world of its nature and is world famous because of all the plants cultivated here, are indigenous. There are over 8 000 species of plants, around 5 000 which do not occur anywhere else in the world. Table Mountain alone supports 1 470 species, more than the entire UK.
Don’t forget about the winelands (many wine routes) or the Klein Karoo. Oudtshoorn is a very dry land and is home to the ostrich feather industry. You also have to visit the Congo Caves.
